Fish noodle

There we go! 2nd visit to this curry fish noodle for the week! I mentioned my cousin came back from Taiwan last night. When I was in Taiwan, I asked her whether she tried this before, she said she wouldn't have a chance to eat breakfast outside when she is in KK coz mum or aunt will always prepare breakfast for us. We are very lucky kids that 3 meals are served everyday! Never miss!

Back to the fish noodle. This is a placed introduced by my friend, Ah Kiun. Fish noodle as in the noodle is made of fish paste, they served it dry, soup or curry soup. Apparently curry soup is the most popular dishes there. It will be sold out by 9am on the weekends. So this soup is very suitable for early birds or hung over.

Its a stall in a kopitiam called Wing Wah in Damai Phase 1. They are very busy during the weekends, prepare to wait for table, noodle and bill.

Curry soup is my favorite. I like everything that taste spicy. Clear broth/soup for me is too plain. The deep fried wonton is another win for this soup!

This was the very first visit to the shop, we got takeaway as the shop was too full and we are home girls. This is dry fish noodle that serve with bowl of soup.

This is RM8 each, its very small portion, if ur a big eater, u might have to get 'jia liao'.

Table calendar + diary

My cousin, Amy, came back from Taiwan for Chinese New Year holiday. She is one generous girl or lady, always get us something when she comes back. I got this cute table calendar with diary. Its a new and special combination: table calendar + diary. Never thought of that but very unique.

Thank you Amy but I am not really good in using dairy to record or marking on my calendar. However, I will appreciate this and fully utilise it!

Lady Bon Bon

Lady Bon Bon is the one of the best cake shop in town. Its my third visits to Lady Bon Bon. I am very impressed with the consistency they maintain.

I bought 10 pcs sliced cakes and made them into a cake! This was my sister's birthday cake! She was so happy to see this! All the sliced cakes are RM7.90 each. They serve more than 10 flavors.

Bon Bon-Misu which is tiramisu

This is something strawberry! I never get along with strawberry so I can't make any comment on this.

This is my favorite Mr Hazel. Its pretty much hazelnut triangle. I love the crunchy bit at the bottom of the cake. Not forget to mention that the sweetness of their cakes are just right for me.

Another favorite of mine. I forgot the name, its something Cowboy. Very nice texture!

Nando's

It was my day out with my sister!

Brekky at McD at Sulaiman --> shopping at 1 Borneo ---> Lunch at Nando's

Main point is Nando's. Its been opened for quite a while now but it was overcrowded as its new and who doesn't like chicken? Which ads with the slogan as "if you don't like chicken, there is really something wrong with you". I love Nando's chicken. I love the chicken paella rice they serve in Perth, I love Nando's marinade.

Ok, back to my Nando's story. We went there around 1pm, wasn't too crowded for Public Holiday lunch. I expected to wait for seat and meal but they didn't happen at all. Must be my lucky day. I wasn't too hungry so I choose something light. Salad it is! Portugese Salad with the options to top with peri-peri chicken breast or not. Of course I got it with chicken, thats the whole point to eat in Nando's.

Menu

The setup in KK is different from Perth. Perth is more like a takeaway place and self serve but KK is like a dining restaurant.

Portugese salad with peri-peri chicken breast. I had it mild. Nice presentation, again I didn't expect to be this nice. Very fresh and crisp salad. However, I did mention few times that no onion, it still came with onion. This costs RM17.60 ++

Chicken wings RM13 ++
My sister never say NO to chicken wings. We had them HOT, OMG, they are really hot! But honestly, there is no wow factor in these wings. Overpriced as well.

My sis had this Strips with rice for RM9.90 ++
She reckon it was good and she proved it too. She finished all the rice.

We were happy with our lunch at Nando's! Definitely will go back again!

My little collection: Eclipse minty boxes

Gonna share my little collection today! I love this minty, Eclipse! I almost have them everyday when I was in Perth. It used to be my morning vitamin when I drove to work at 4.30am.

This is the series I got in HK in end of May last year when I came back from Italy.
This is a complete series. Took me a while to finish all the minties as I dont like some flavors.

This series is not completed. I got in HK as well. This featured Sport B for xmas 2012.

These last two are flavors cant be found in KK. The top orange is orange flavor, my friend got it for me from Taiwan. The bottom green one is apple flavor. It has been my favorite ever since I bought it. It can be found in HK and Taiwan. So whenever I go to HK i will buy at least 4 of this back to KK.

There is more coming back from Taiwan tomorrow! Cant wait!!

Grillz Kitchen

This is my second visit to Grillz Kitchen at Kepayan Point. First impression was good but tonight it was a disappointment.

We were a huge gang of 13 to celebrate Jean's birthday. It was quite crowded when we got there. Reasons being were its sunday night, its affordable meals and it serves pork!

I ordered Pork Zilla burger, it wasnt as nice as the first time. It was a stupid idea to put coleslaw on the plate next to the burger, my burger bun was soaking wet. Yiakky! The menu describe ingredients of the burger included caramelized onion but there was fresh onion in the burger. My expectation for burger is high due to my special background and personal experience.

We didn't get our meals all at the same time. The pasta came out first then followed by chicken after 15 mins or so, then pizza and burger after 30mins and the last order came after 1 hr from the first order. The stations are not coordinating or someone cant read the ticket at the window. It happened to all the table tonight. But I gotta say something about the place, their menu is picture perfect! We did have hard time to decide what to order by looking at the pics on the menu.

Grilled Sir Loin Steak! Good morning, Sir Loin! LOL

My Pork Zilla burger with coleslaw and fries.

Look at all the water from coleslaw! It spoiled my burger terribly!!

Haircut

Went for my haircut today. Have my haircut every 2-3 mths. Ever since my sis wedding I met this hairdresser, I couldn't live without him!

He is the owner of Hair Made Salon in City Mall. His name is Kevin / Kelvin / Calvin, one of these, I m not sure because I never call his name. But I have so much faith in him. What I like about him? He is a quiet hairdresser. I met some hairdressers that would literally do background check then write a profile for me, they are freaking scary.

Everyone goes for haircut before chinese new year, make sure you get ur haircut 2 weeks before so you don't have to pay extra for the increased price. I waited my hairdresser for 1 hr to get my haircut today. Apparently, there was air gun shooting happened around KK last night, Hair Made Salon was one of the victim.

I was lucky today, I wasn't the first one got there but I was the first one got my haircut! Felt sorry for the lady waited for 2 hrs for her hair cut. Kelvin likes me more I suppose. FYI, I never decide what hair style I want, my hairdresser always have the honor to decide how they going to cut my hair.

I always leave his salon with happy face. Just because I trust him! Salute!

This was the first hair cut I got from Kelvin and also my first time ever color my hair. I did it specially for my sister's wedding! This showed how much I love her!

something for the forgotten part

the forgotten part of the society in kk.....the homeless

its amazing how ppl in america do things for homeless ppl but i never see any ppl do anything for the homeless in KK. I suppose they r the forgotten part in our society here. Asian always have this thinking, ppl are homeless because they didn't study hard or work hard or they are the parasite of the society, so we shouldn't feel sorry for them. However, everyone deserves a second chance. They might have different reasons for being homeless so forget that stupid asian thinking and do something for them.

Here is something I bought: biscuits, cake and water. When I bought these, I thought of what are convenient for them. All these are in individual packs so they are good for homeless as the food stay clean.

The bad side is I couldn't find them after I bought all these. I saw them at Gaya Street before but I couldn't see any of them that night. I will have to look for them next time. Hopefully very soon! Good luck to me!

菠蘿包 Polo bun (i supposed)

My colleague got me a polo bun from Gaya Street yesterday. I m quite a big fan of polo bun. It was always on my TO-EAT list when I came back from Perth for holiday.

This polo bun is different from the one I usually have. It has real pineapple in the filling instead of butter milk. I heard this from my colleague ages ago but she never bought it for me until the other colleague was nice to buy me one.

It was fresh from the oven when we got it but I had it when it was almost cold. Surprisingly, the crust on top was very crispy. I was impressed at my first bite.

Its smaller from the one I usually get from Lintas but not so sure about the price difference.

Personally, I don't really like pineapple, so I prefer butter milk filling than this pineapple jam. Its kinda sweet for me. But the crust is really a WOW for me.

Last photo is nothing about polo bun but my silly Cooper. Aunt bought these chinese sausages (lap cheong) from Hong Kong. We have a special channel to import all these without going through the custom to avoid any chances of being confiscated. I think they smell too good for Cooper. Too bad Cooper, you can't have this! They are too fatty and salty for you.

10th anniversary

Happy 10th anniversary with my shoulder pain!

For some reasons, the shoulder has been aching for the last few days. It could be the raining season or its here to celebrate the 10th anniversary so I will never get alone for this special occasion!

I remember how i fell down and how did I cope with this pain! I just ignore it for time being, nothing much i can do, cant i? I tried chinese massage, physiotherapy, natural remedy and etc nothing works. It just constantly come back whenever it feels like. This time to mark the 10th anniversary it actually gives me some numbness on my right arm. I don't know what to do?! I don't wanna tell my parents, it just gonna freak them out!

C'mon shoulder! Let me get back to my own life! I will be happier without you!

lolo

lolo! I m not sure what language is this but definitely its not english, chinese, malay, hakka or cantonese. Its one of those Sarawakian language, I picked it up when I studied in Miri and continued to use it when I lived with a chef from Kuching, Sarawak. Not much of ppl understand in Sabah but I still say it, I always get a weird look in return.

lolo means blur, don't know whats happening. Personally, I get it when I am tired. When I m lolo, I can't speak properly no matter what language I m saying. For example, I said loudly today "random kind of actness" and then I realized hang on what on earth is random kind of actness, actness is not even a word that you can find in the dictionary. The same happened to my colleague, she tried to tell me a restaurant named Grillz Kitchen but she said Grillz CHICKEN instead. She didn't realize until I asked her, "did you say grillz chichken?" We laughed our ass off.

What is your lolo moment?

Good night mate!

Sunday goes so fast

Do you agree that Sunday goes fast? Every freaking Sunday!! There comes the most unwanted Monday! ARGH!

Anyway, I had some Metrojaya cash vouchers expire on the 8th so I had been asking mum whether she wanted to do some shopping with me. Between, the occurrence of Metrotown, you no longer can simply say I m going to Metro, coz you will get a question, "Metrotown or Metrojaya?" So do it right at the first time!

I find Metrojaya is kinda boring, they don't get new stock very often and the worst thing is there is no mobile reception inside Metrojaya. Maybe its one of their strategy to cut off the connection with outside world and the consumer will simply buy anything without worrying too much.

Well, mum and I walked around and we decided to get some underwear. Yeah, its boring yet Chinese New Year is coming so might as well. I m not going to show you my underwear nor my mum's. Its extremely P&C. However, I m going to show u a display that I saw in Metrojaya today.

I am not very fashionable but PLEASE! Who did this?! Its awful!!

Fastfood: Sugarbun

Today was fun! Catch up with Steph, came back from Perth for holiday! We met at McCafe Sulaiman, I was surprised with the design and cleanliness for this McD. For one sec, I though I was in Maccas in Perth. I will definitely go back to this McD although its 20 mins from home.

However, today is about Sugarbun! Where the hell has Sugarbun been? They serve good fish and raisin rice! This is the only fast food that my parents like. We used to get it quite often! Why? Asians like fish and rice!
Joined my family for lunch today at Metrotown, we walked around and saw Sugarbun kini dibuka! Sugarbun it is!

Sugarbun in Metrotown

Seating area in Sugarbun Metrotown

Fairly new and clean!

Got this fish and rice for RM11.60

The raisin rice is not simple raisin rice, its with chicken as well. The flavor is good, it brought back all the memories we had with Sugarbun. Everyone is happy with their lunch. I miss fish and chips in Perth at the same time! Sweetlips!!! Oh my god! Should plan for a trip back to Perth real soon!

Have a nice Sunday tomorrow!

Blank

I don't know what to say today but I have been telling myself that I have to write this every day!

Alright! Let's talk about my morning walk on thread mill! Its boring! Yea, I know!

What about my manager?! She is one indescribable lady! She is very hard to keep up with so what i always do is to ignore her! Ok, this sounds boring too! I guess everyone has some issues at work so I don't have to talk much about this!

Oh! Guess what?! My lovely aunt is finally back from HK. That means our meals are prepared daily no more eating out, no more takeaway and no more starving but consequence is putting more kg on the scale! There is always no win win situation! BUT I think she will be busy from now on until Chinese New Year! Will see whats happening!

Next public holiday is on 14th January! Its a date to look forward coz its a bloody day off!!! Who doesn't like extra day off?! Office working hours are fixed but boring! Roster working hours are flexible but have to sacrifice to work on public holidays and weekends which are suck! See, what I said before?! There is NO win win situation!!

Anyway, bedtime! Good night mate!

My first ever blood donation!

My 1st blood donation

Date: 22.12.2013
Time: 11.30am
Venue: KK Tzer Ying Buddhist Temple

This was a coincidence. I was telling aunt that I wanted to go for blood donation in Beaufort but we had to go home to look after the house from flooding, so we didn't make it. I told her that I never done this and I would give a try. She quickly replied "there is one tomorrow at temple starts from 9am". I was like "great, lets do this!"

I am not afraid of needles or what so ever, I always look at the needle when it pokes me. It sounds like I m psychopath. No I am not, I am just brave. Yes I am brave! But to be honest, the needle for dripping is way over my limit! Ok, back to blood donation!

I was still deciding whether i should go, i started to ask my good friend, Mr Google, whether I m fit to do this. I tick all the boxes. SO there we go.

The whole process went so fast. Got there, filled up form, blood sugar level test, get my body weight, interview, blood pressure test, some other tests tat i dont know what. I'm lucky enough to have a very experienced nurse. First needle to make my vein swell (as per my SG sister), second needle is for withdrawing my blood into the bag. First needle is like ant stung and i didn't feel anything for second needle even though its way bigger than the first one. It only took 10 min to fill up a 350cc bag. That's it, all done! Of course, you will get some complimentary food and drinks in return of your generosity!

This is certificate, i will call it little red booklet instead to record my generosity!

Blood group A

First and more to come!

In progress!

For the whole process I did not feel pain or dizzy. This is something everyone should do whenever its possible. My advise is drink plenty water before and after blood donation. Its extremely important. Don't be afraid of this. Be brave! You would never imagine how much this means.
